about this artist

Born in 1967 and considered one of Japan's most important contemporary photgraphers, Yanagi first rose to prominence in the west with her meticulously creative 'Elevator Girls' - a highly stylized, visionary journey through the life of women in modern Japan.

These iconic hostesses reappear in this edition, escorting the observer in an ultimately endless journey through a perplexing, painstakingly digitised shopping mall environment.
