Born in Tokyo in 1948, Hiroshi Sugimoto is considered one of the greatest photographers working today, revered both for his technical ability and the conceptual basis of a practice in which themes such as time, life and death are explored.

A former student at the Art Center College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, Sugimoto now lives and works in both New York and Tokyo.
