about this artist

Born in 1969 in Germany, Gregor Schneider is best known for the continual, claustrophobic modification of his family home in Rheydt, a project known as Totes Haus UR.

Although many of Schneider's works are confrontational, designed to induce apprehension and even fear, he is recognised as one of Germany's most important contemporary artists.
