Always at the centre of their own practice, art's most enduring duo probably need little introduction.
Italian-born Gilbert (Proesch) and George (Passmore)
met in 1967 while students at
London's St Martins School of Art. Their 1970 performance 'The Singing Sculpture' brought them international
fame and remains a landmark in live art.
Since then, Gilbert and George have pursued their vocation as "living sculptures"
while producing trademark large-scale photographic artworks.
