Arguably the 20th Century's greatest post-War artist,
and certainly the best known, Andy Warhol (USA, 1928-1987) needs little
introduction.
Following a successful career as a commercial artist, he held his first
solo exhibition in New York in 1962. It included early examples of
his most iconic Pop images: Marilyns, Coke bottles and Campbells Soup
cans.
While it was his output in the 60s that gained him worldwide notoriety
and fame, Warhol remained a major artistic presence throughout his life.
Today his work is more keenly collected than ever.
