In the image shown left, Conrads adopts the geometric abstraction notable in current German painting as part of a widespread revival of interest in modernism. More recently, however, his works have taken on certain characteristics of Op Art (below), merging complex, hard-edged geometries with fluid grounds and fills in a variety of techniques.
The combination of varying approaches to abstraction in a single form provides the artist with extreme compositional challenges which he skilfully meets.
A 2007 graduate of Hamburg's distinguished Hochschule für bildende Künste, Conrads had already held several solo shows before completing his studies, a testament to his early promise.
