Further pieces created especially for public spaces include a series of Modified Social Benches, a re-formatting of street architecture designed to provide "the possibility to interact with the works without even knowing that it is art".

The benches take on a variety of improbable forms whilst still maintaining their essential function as a resting place. Yet through Hein's intervention, they also become a specific focus of social interaction, a literal 'talking point' inspired by their idiosyncratic appearance or the unusual posture that sitting on them requires.
