Doreen McPherson: new contemporary drawing

New contemporary drawing: Doreen McPherson

Doreen McPherson's mesmerising portraits resonate with energy and a highly sensitive perception of subject.

McPherson has never received a mainstream art education, but for several years has been a member of the London-based collective Intoart, whose Studio Project provides extensive formal training, workshops and studio space to artists with learning difficulties.

Using an array of drawing mediums, such as pencil, charcoal and pen, the artist produces captivating, powerful works that fuse fluid representation with psychological essence, and have recently been exhibited in major venues including the Whitechapel Gallery and Tate Modern.
