Ivan Navarro

Chilean-born, New York-based Ivan Navarro creates works using fluorescent lighting, a practice which he appears to inherit from minimalist artists such as Dan Flavin, yet applies in a very different manner.

Shaping the bulbs into recognisable forms or incorporating them into illusionary optical installations, Navarro invests his pieces with associative meaning and a visual complexity entirely at odds with the ethos of minimalist art.
